Working Record|Item 2 and 3

The script I had decided to write for next option had to be changed because in the ending of item one the social worker from our first performance had committed suicide. This character was need for the next item as I had decided to come up with an new idea and add him back into the scene. I made the social worker think him dying was a dream and have him wake up in the beginning of Item two.

The social worker (Liam Senior.) was in his late thirties’s, he was married but he lost both of his children, I used this to help communicate why he takes his job since his a personal connection as a social worker so when dealing with children from an abusive background that could be at risk at death he doesn’t want to see anymore kids dying himself.  The young boy (Tyrese Scott-Muhammed.) is in year 6, I didn’t really develop much of a background for the child. The only thing know about him from the previous item was that he blames himself for his mother dying in a care crash because he was talking to her and she ended up crashing the car and dying.

Since I decided to write a script I didn’t have a character to play, but my character from the first item does appear in this item again. I played the child and in this scene the child was found by the social worker after the father had beaten him up, the father ran away after doing so. My character was based on the child in the stimulus , Aylan Kurdi, who was found dead by Turkish police. We had kept the idea of a young child and father in our scene so it stayed closely related to the stimulus we were given.

Item 3

My design idea is of one of the characters in the scene. I had based this design idea of the social worker and my idea of how he would look in real life. In item 1 our social worker was played by Ashan, so in my mind I believe the social worker would be black and because he had his own kids he would be in his late 30s. When my script is performed I wanted to communicate to the audience that social worker has his own personal connection with the job that he has. I gave a him a suit to show that he takes his job seriously.

The design idea would be used in the scene when deciding what the character has to wear, what they should look like, how the should act and their behaviour. This is personally what I would use it for when thinking about developing a scene.

The deisgn idea can help communicate ideas about the character because you can give them more of an in-depth analysis of the character and goinng o into more detail. For example, you can talk about the character’s background, his ethnicity, age, whether he has any kids, etc.

I decided to give the social worker a necklace that is symbolic and represents both the children he has lost, it has two angel wings on it and each wing is symbolic for the children he has lost. His job I would say in a way would be symbolic as he is a social worker and works with kids that have been in issues related to domestic violence. In the script his job becomes closer to him since he doesn’t want to see anyone lose their kids/ see any kids die again like what had happened to him.

Simile Work

He was as cold as death.

The denotation is the Compeyson is so cold that his temperature is cold enough that he can die. The simile infers that he is cold as in his emotion, so basically couldn’t care less creating a connotation.
